Price index helps evaluate how attractive your product is compared to competitors' on other marketplaces.

When calculating price index, we take into account the products:

• Sold on the marketplace. The price index for products that aren’t on sale don’t influence the overall rating.
• With at least one link to an identical product on Ozon or another marketplace. We search for these links ourselves, but you can add them manually.

We also calculate the minimum price for identical products of your competitors on Ozon and other marketplaces.

Price index types #

• Favorable: your products on Ozon are competitive and attractive to customers.
• Moderate: prices for your products are on average higher than your competitors' on Ozon and on other marketplaces.
• Unfavorable: prices for your products are significantly higher than the competitors'. Such products aren’t attractive to customers as they can find similar ones cheaper. We recommend to adjust prices to attract customers.

View price index #

To evaluate how customers perceive prices for your products, monitor the metric in the Price Index section on the main page.

To view details, click the Price Index widget. You can view:

• The share of products with the Unfavorable, Moderate, and Favorable index as a percentage of the total number of your products.
• The number of products with each index type.
• The change in the number of products with a certain index type compared to the previous day.

Your and the competitors' prices on Ozon and other marketplaces are displayed in the Products and prices section. To change your prices, click View products.

Some products aren’t included in the calculation. The No index section shows products that don’t have links to other marketplaces in their PDPs. You need to add them manually.

Price index calculation #

Ozon compares product prices including discounts from sellers and marketplaces. We calculate the price difference based on prices from open sources.

Ozon compares your product price with:

• Your competitors' prices on Ozon including discounts for points and for paying with Ozon Bank card. We don’t take into account coupons, regional mark-ups, and personal discounts. If a competitor’s price changes often, we calculate the price index based on the daily median value.
• Your competitors' prices that customers see on other marketplaces. The calculation includes stores that mainly sell products of your category. For example, if you sell perfumes, the calculation is based on the product prices on Wildberries, L’Etoile, Gold Apple, and other similar marketplaces.

When comparing prices, we take into account the number of product items in the bundle, and competitors' prices for similar products on Ozon.

The calculation doesn’t take into account products on other marketplaces that have a rating of 3 or lower. Products that have no rating or reviews are included in the calculation.

For each of the two minimum prices, we calculate the price index by the formulas:

• If your price on Ozon is lower than the competitor’s: your price on Ozon ÷ competitor’s price.
• If your price on Ozon is higher than the competitor’s: 2 − competitor’s price ÷ your price on Ozon.

We assign each price an index from 0.01 to 1.99 and a color:

We determine the resulting color based on the prevailing one.

If there’s no prevailing color, we assign your product a Moderate Index. If any price index has a value of 1.3 or higher, we mark the product as Unfavorable.

Price index influence on sales #

Products with a favorable price index have the “Great price” tag. They are 7.5% more actively promoted in search results than products with an unfavorable index.

Products with a moderate index are promoted by 5% in search results.

We don’t block products with unfavorable index or give penalties for them. Products with such an index don’t go lower in search results, but they aren’t promoted the same as products with a favorable and moderate index.

The seller receives the “Great price” tag if they meet all the conditions:

• more than half of their products in the store have a price index;
• more than 80% of products have a favorable price index;
• less than 10% of products in the store have an unfavorable price index.

Adjust product prices #

To attract more customers to products with moderate and unfavorable indexes, we recommend to adjust your prices. You can filter products by price index in the Manage prices section.

Use a pricing strategy #

To track the costs of similar products on other marketplaces and automatically adjust prices, use the “Keep a favorable price” strategy. Your price will always be competitive. Your products will have the “Great price” tag and appear 7.5% higher in search results than products with an unfavorable index.

Add links to other marketplaces and competitors' products #

The price index for your product can’t be calculated if there’s not enough data.

The system automatically compares your products with identical ones on Ozon. You don’t need to do this manually. If the same product is sold on another marketplace, you can add a link to it. The more data you provide, the higher the chance to improve the price index and promote your products. We automatically update the prices in the list and take them into account when determining the minimum price.

Report a link #

If you think the comparison of products is incorrect or a link to a product on another marketplace distorts your price index, let us know:

1. In the Products and Prices → Manage prices section, click the product price.
2. Click .
3. Select the reason and tell us why the link is incorrect.
4. Click Send.

We’ll review your complaint within 3 hours and fix the data if it’s incorrect. If you aren’t satisfied with the check result, report the link again.
